·         Support the core Windows 2003 and UNIX network operating systems: in the Wide Area Network (WAN) installed in the Ministry, two major operating systems were used: Windows 2003 Server installed into HP Netserver LXe and TTI server, HP UX versions: 10.01 and 11.0 installed into HP 9000 K100 and N 4000 respectively, DG UX version 4.5 installed into Data General Aviion 5500, 2000.

 

·         Designing and Implementing Ministry WAN: the aim of the design was to provide and maintain a scalable, reliable, cost-effective hierarchical internetwork. Optimize WAN through Internet-access solutions that reduce band-width and WAN costs, using features such as filtering with access lists, bandwidth on demand (BOD), and dial-on-demand routing (DDR).

 

·          Providing remote access to the Ministry WAN: by integrating dial-up connectivity with traditional, remote LAN-to-LAN access, as well as supporting the higher levels of performance required for new applications such as Web based application, multimedia.

 

·          Installing and configuring network components: the Ministry WAN was composed of CISCO and Baynetworks routers, hubs and switches.

 

·         Ensure Network Security: to provide a network with optimum proficiency and   security to meet business requirements by ensuring that network resources remain  available to users at all times, while managing to keep out any and all hackers. We Install, configure, and operate simple-routed LAN, routed WAN and switched LAN networks. Configuring IP, IGRP, serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, Ethernet, and access lists.
Applying Network Tools: using tools supported by the operating systems, TNG uni center, Net Xray, Network_Probe_1.1.1, MRTG, WAN Spy ver1.5 and Open view to administrate, monitors and reporting data traffic in the network.
